What Is The Difference Between Soft Washing and Pressure Washing?

We are often asked what the difference is between Pressure Washing and Soft Washing.

  • In most cases, Soft Washing is a method used to remove organic growth from surfaces. Most of the time used in house washes, roof washes, and deck washes.

  • Pressure Washing is most often used to clean concrete surfaces. Higher pressure is ok to use on concrete surfaces as long as the person doing the cleaning is well trained and experienced. With that said, even concrete can be damaged permanently by using too much pressure.

That is why we always use a pre-determined mix of solution and water to get the job done. Each job is different and requires different detergents and methods. Your home is your largest asset. Choose the pros, Moxie Pressure Washing.

Why Should I Wash My Roof?

After about 3-5 years you can start seeing dark streaks, moss, and lichen in different areas of your roof. It happens if the roof granules begin to wear away, thereby, exposing the asphalt layer to spores in the air. This alga can attach to your roof and spread.

Should I Soft Wash or Pressure Wash My Roof?

Pressure washing should never be used to clean your roof! Simply put, Soft Washing is the only method that should be used to remove growth on your Roof.

We lightly spray the shingles with a mix of soap and algicides made for each specific roof. Then, we wait, as sometimes your roof will need multiple applications. After a few minutes, black streaks will turn brown and then disappear. Green moss will slowly turn a light brown or white color, fall off and die within a few weeks helping your roof look like new again.

When Should I Clean My House?

When your house starts to reflect the following:

  • Spider webs
  • Mold/algae
  • Bug spots (we see this a lot with properties on lakes or rivers)
  • Dirt (especially new construction)
  • Dirty gutters (mostly caused by clogged gutters)
  • Just looks dirty

What Is Our Process For Cleaning Your House?

We begin by wetting the surface of your house with our power washer. This step is crucial in that it prepares the surface for when we use the soap treatment that will get your surface looking like new again. After applying and allowing the cleaning solution to soak in, we use our pressure washing equipment to rinse away all the dirt and accumulated debris, helping your house look as good as new. Our Soft Washing system is gentle on all types of surfaces ensuring that your property is cleaned without any damage.
